Stuart has been rated as being
‘possibly the best and fastest keyboard player in the world’ Despite that praise, much more important to him,
is that he communicates through his music.
He greatly enjoys playing slow, meditative music
when reflecting on the joys or sadness of everyday life and people. Like many
artists his feelings and imagination can be very extreme and these dictate which
kind of music comes from him.
He feels that people find out more about his
true personality through his music than is ever possible with words. Because
Stuart’s preference is to adhere to his more positive and even sentimental
feelings much of his compositions have a ‘feel’ good’ factor which passes onto
the listener.
This sums up Stuart’s general aim in life - to bring
joy, excitement and enrichment to people’s lives though his talent. Stuart
must be seen playing live as his beautiful melodies, and improvisation, and the
feel with which they are delivered, are as astounding as the phenomenal speeds
and rhythmic complexities of which he is capable.
Far from being a technical exercise, Stuart’s fingers
act purely involuntarily as a means of converting his thought patterns and moods
into a tangible form to which people immediately relate. Some of his music
explores unnerving depths of insight and ability and arrives at places, it can
be said, where few people have been !
Harmonious or discordant, lightning speeds or almost pure
stillness, straight timing or brain-teasing syncopation, beautiful melodies or
complete disobedience of musical rules - it’s all a beautiful, universal
language. Stuart realized from a very early age that music was ‘in his
blood’ and that to take any other career would be ‘living a lie’. He feels
that he has barely scraped the surface of the potential yet to be unleashed
which will take listeners on wonderful and sometimes weird musical journeys.
People have great difficulties trying to categorise his
music because true expression cannot be divided into such compartments. His
influence range from Mozart and Oscar Peterson to Prince. Technology, musical
automation and marketing often stifle ‘music from the heart’ but Stuart
remains fully dedicated and determined to let music live and breath, and he
reiterates these values in his extensive live work : ‘Music is exciting,
moving, uplifting, revelatory, stimulating and adds quality to people’s
lives.’
Stuart's work also includes writing music for television
and includes sports programmes, action dramas, holiday adverts, kid's programmes
cartoons etc.
Another main area of his music is in 'Dance'. He writes
House, Garage, Techno, Drum 'n' Bass (in style of LTJ Buckem but with a touch of
funk!) , Trance (Aphex twin to Sash style) , Chill-out etc. These appear in the
main British, USA and European charts on compilations such as IBIZA, CLUBBERS
WORLD, CHILL OUT EXPERIENCE II, GARAGE 2001,DRUM N BASS COLLECTION, and feature
other well-known artists including CRAIG DAVID, DJ LUCK/MC NEAT, GOLDIE, ARTFUL
DODGER etc. He creates this music in a different way to most. Stuart plays all
the instruments live. Stuart finds this is much quicker and it gives the music
more depth, soul and true gritty groove. Much of his dance music has the typical
'Stuart Jones funkiness', - He simply just can't resist it !
